The stone

The weight of stone. The movement of water.

For millennia, marble has been extracted and shaped in Estremoz, Portugal — a landscape where stone and craftsmanship have evolved together across generations.

From this land comes Picasso, an expressive Portuguese marble marked by sweeping black and mineral-red veins, each block carrying a composition entirely its own.

These natural lines became the starting point for ONDINA.

The light

Light passes through the marble.

Through carving, refinement and light, the monumentality of marble begins to disappear.

Layers and veins that stay hidden when the object is unlit rise to the surface — revealing what the block has been holding since it was quarried.

Weight becomes lightness. Solid stone becomes translucent.

The form

We followed the stone, rather than cutting against it.

The sculptural form continues the rhythm of the veins — fluid, irregular, almost in motion — recalling the waves of the Portuguese Atlantic.

ONDINA brings together what has shaped Portugal for centuries: stone, ocean, light and craft, transforming an ancient material into a contemporary collectible.

Each piece begins with a different fragment of the earth.

No two can ever be the same.

The studio

Maré Collective

Born in Portugal, Maré Collective creates furniture and objects where architecture, craftsmanship and contemporary living come together. Inspired by the rhythm of the ocean — maré, the Portuguese word for tide — each collection reflects the balance between permanence and movement, simplicity and refinement, sculpture and function.

Designed by interior architects and brought to life by Portugal's finest artisans, our collections are rooted in honest materials, timeless proportions and meticulous craftsmanship.

Rather than following trends, Maré Collective embraces quiet design — objects that reveal their character through light, texture, touch and the passage of time.
